“A man without a vote is a man without protection.”
President Lyndon B. Johnson
Voting is a fundamental right that should not be infringed, since free elections are the foundation of a functioning democracy. Unfortunately, voting rights are constantly under attack. Communities, particularly low-income, people of color, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities, often experience discrimination and disenfranchisement that prevent them from exercising their rights to cast their votes. People of color, seniors, veterans, low-income individuals, people with disabilities, and students often experience discrimination and disenfranchisement that prevent them from exercising their rights to cast their votes. Our election system should give everyone the equal opportunity to vote, and that goal requires advocacy for voter registration, absentee voting, bilingual ballots, and more.
The Stein Public Interest Center is at the center of the fight to preserve and expand the right to vote for every eligible person. Through appellate advocacy and litigation, we work to empower the most vulnerable or disenfranchised citizens and to ensure that elections truly reflect the voice of all the people.
